The comfort of the rooms is very good. There is everything you need for a pleasant stay. The breakfast is very good with a great variety and an effort to satisfy all tastes. Solo Sokos Hotel Helsinki, hotel in Helsinki

Just around the corner from the Aleksanterinkatu shopping street, this hotel features Italian-inspired cuisine and spacious rooms with free Wi-Fi. Helsinki Central Station is 400 metres away.

Great location at 5 min walk from the main train station and in the pedestrian area. But despite the location at the heart of the city, the hotel is very quiet even at the first floor (or second floor if you are from the US). The staff is great and very responsive. I needed an early breakfast one day and was very happy with the provided package. The regular breakfast is also really good and you have all the regular options (savoury and sweet). The hotel is really modern with a great design. The gym is small but good enough. The room (although different from the one booked) was well furnished and comfortable.

FAQs about hotels in Helsinki

Nordic Daughter of the Baltic

Scratch beneath the small-town surface of Helsinki and you will find a cosmopolitan metropolis buzzing with a lively attitude and plenty of excitement. The relatively short-lived summer offers the best chance to appreciate the outdoors and sit on one of the popular café terraces, or even hit the Hietaniemi Beach, all of which can be enjoyed during the 20 hours of daylight.

Strolling around the streets of Helsinki will reveal an Empire-style of architecture, comparable to St. Petersburg. The greatest example of this is the green-domed Lutheran Cathedral which rises proudly out of the centre of Senate Square. From here the main shopping street of Aleksanterinkatu, affectionately known as Aleksi, runs towards Mannerheimintie and contains the largest department store in Scandinavia, called Stockmann. The up-market boulevard of Esplanadi runs alongside and is packed with exclusive boutiques.

Lovers of Nordic design will be thrilled by the Design Museum and the Ateneum Art Museum. Nature is in abundance on the beautiful archipelago which lies along the coast. A must-see is the Baltic fortress of Suomenlinna, where you just might forget you’re in a big city.

Whether you head to a sauna or amusement park when you disembark from Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport, with over 65 hotels, apartments and hostels, Booking.com has the perfect place for your Scandinavian stay.

The city itself is very nice, and you can spend 2–3 days visiting. Since we came for the race, we didn’t see much, but we did visit the top 5 attractions listed on TripAdvisor. We visited the Sea Fortress Suomenlinna, the Temppeliaukio Church (which I highly recommend; I’m not usually a churchgoer, nor am I religious, but this church really impressed me), Helsinki Cathedral, the Old Market Hall (where I also had a traditional dessert), and Uspenskin Cathedral, an Orthodox cathedral.

Loved everything about the city and vicinity. Make sure to visit: (1) Market square; (2) Take a tour with a city planner ("Ataman" tours"); (3) If you grew up reading books about Moomin family of trolls - there is a great "Moomin" shop close to the Market Square; (4) take a boat to Island of Suomenlinna (note: if you have tram tickets for "AB" area, they'd work for the boat) and while there, make sure to visit their delightful Toy Museum and their little cafe; (5) Löyly sauna is the must and you do not have to wear speedos: all the guys were in normal swim trunks (you can rent them right there as well); (5) Visit Uutela forest (~ 40 minute ride on a train). Just walk around and talk to the locals: everyone speaks perfect English and we found that it is not true that Finns hate small talk: everyone was warm and friendly and talked to us plenty.

Helsinki is a very safe and walkable city and although it was cold, getting around was no problem. The people are very friendly and a credit to their city. Lots to see and do. Trams everywhere if you need them. Big wide streets and shopping centres that are really bright and clean. Overall I would highly recommend a visit, three days at least.

Interesting city , nice to visit in the summer with lots of sightseeing. Especially for those who like walks by the sea or taking a trip with a boat. There are issues with renovation which happen all over the city during the summer but hopefully you can avoid them. Public transport is great, people know english very well, eating is quite expensive by average European standards but with the right schedule maybe you can manage. Make sure to visit Tallin and Porvoo as well

Perfect destination to get acquainted with the famous Finnιsh culture, style and design. A walkable downtown and a very convenient way to move by the extremely accurate and clean public means of transport. Happy people loving outdoor activities, socializing throughout the long summer evenings at pubs and cafes, Perfect English spoken anywhere. Unforgettable coffee experience for coffee lovers in numerous famous brand shops. We loved especially "Johan & Nyström" in Kanavaranta district. Very good Finnish beers at Public Corners and Molly Malone's.

The Apartment is indeed very well connected with the public Transport System. With a few steps you can get to the Tram and Bus lines, but we didn't notice any traffic noise in the night. Even the metro is in comfortable walking Distance. On top of that there are many great Restaurants in the area wich are much cheaper that the ones in the City Center! Also the public Saunas in the area are much cozyer and more authentic than the ones in the City Center. The owner is very friendly and flexible, kind regards and many thanks!

Yes, is the cheapest but is a bit out of the city center, 40/50 min walking. Rooms are good for being that big and also clean as all the rest, toilets and kitchens (there are on each floor). The staff doesn't take much effort, never out of their box. At the check-in they don't give you info about the city or even where the toilets are. Just make you sign in and give the key. I understand to give a tour is a bit too much for a big hostel but at least some basic info about how to move around such a big hostel!

Room was lovely, very clean and well kept. Location is absolutely perfect. Breakfast is great. I was also able to get an amazing dinner in the hotel restaurant one evening and avoid the business of the city center. This might be a small thing for some, but I really appreciated that I was able to open a window in the room to get some proper fresh air in and not just rely solely on the aircon. This hotel was recommended by a friend and I am so happy I booked it! Will come back when I am in Helsinki again.

First of all, hats off to the staff. Always there to help, and welcome each guest with a big smile. This new, modern, spacious hotel, with a great view from the rooftop terrace, is located near a bus and tram stop, and it takes only a 10-minute ride to get to the city center. The breakfast here was nothing short of amazing! So many options to choose from, all fresh and delicious. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I only wish the bathroom area was bigger.

Breakfast was very nice and had a lot of stuff from which to choose from. Staff was really friendly and helpful and offered other services as well (which we did not need, but nice from them to ask). The whole venue is really nice and the beds were firm enough unlike some other hotels. I can recommend this hotel without any issues! The hotel is very close to Helsinki city center but still a few blocks away to provide minimal noise levels.

The breakfast buffet is exceptional, with a huge selection of quality breakfast items, and fresh meals delivered straight from the kitchen (during my stay, omelettes and pancakes). Highly recommend going for the breakfast! The rooms are fairly basic but very comfortable and well soundproofed from the noise of the hotel and the city. I had a wonderful rest!
