Sparkling City of Champagne
The largest city in the Champagne-Ardenne, Reims is inextricably linked with this region’s famous sparkling wine. In fact, the city’s symbol - its huge Gothic cathedral - has a window depicting the monk who invented champagne: Dom Perignon. This coronation cathedral of French kings for around a millennium also has stained-glass windows designed by Marc Chagall.
A mosaic detailing champagne production also features on an Art Nouveau building with a barrel-shaped door on Rue de Mars, next to the 17th-century city hall.
But it’s the Reims champagne houses that are stars of the show. Many big brands are headquartered here and some including Pommery and Taittinger offer cellar tours in their underground chalk caves. You can also visit Veuve-Clicquot by appointment. Of course, no tour would be complete without a champagne tasting session, so you may leave feeling a little heady.
As you’d expect of such a prestigious city, there’s no shortage of restaurants, bars and shops including Galeries Lafayette and the Espace d’Erlon shopping centre. Tree-lined Place d’Erlon is considered the heart of the city and is home to the Reims Christmas markets.
Paris Orly Airport is the closest, so chances are you’ll arrive by car. See Booking.com for a great range of Reims accommodation that include parking.
The Notre Dame de Reims alone made our trip worth it.
The Notre Dame de Reims alone made our trip worth it. Seems there's always an event going on there from the laser light show to concerts. There's a convenient event schedule on-line. The Musée de la Reddition is a must-see if you're into WW2 History. Many nice restaurant's in all price ranges throughout the city. If you're into champagne, tours are available at growers locations. The Ancient Arches of Porte Mars are another reason to visit Reims.

We find Reims always a safe environment to wander around. A little bit for everyone. Good shopping, good restaurants and an excellent market on Saturdays.
There is an awful lot to look at but just sit and people watch with a glass of champagne.
Reims is good for just chilling

The town has some very nice older French architecture and is very walkable. You can find everything you need within a few hundred meters. We didn’t use public transportation but we saw trams, buses and the rail station is an easy five minute walk.

The cathedral was beautiful and our cellar tour was fun. We found the main square / fountains and took the tram for a trip around and about. It was all very lovely with more than 1 glass of champagne to help things along!

Nice city that can be toured in 1 full day.
Nice city that can be toured in 1 full day. The main attraction is the Cathedral of Notre Dame. Make sure to take the Pommery tour champagne experience (no need to do Villa Demoiselle). Also make sure to visit the automobile museum. Have dinner or lunch around the Place Drouet d'Erlon (which is 5 min walk from the main train station). You can also visit the Basilique Saint-Remi (10 min walk away from Pommery).

A very good place to stay for Champagne lovers and to use as a base to explore the region and is not too far from Epernay by car or train. It also has some very fine examples of Art Deco and Art Nouveau architecture. The cathedral is not to be missed and the Crayères at Ruinart an UNESCO site
A lovely, spacious, quiet apartment with views over Champagne Pommery-Vranken. Having travelled for 2 months mostly in hotels, it was so nice to have somewhere we could relax over a home cooked meal...and do some washing!
Audrey was just delightful and very helpful.
There is a 'City Bus' (small, square blue bus) you can catch outside Vranken-Pommery near the big house you can catch to the champagne houses, city centre & train station which saves you about €10-15 one way in a taxi. Wish we had known that sooner.
Great little apartment with everything you need. A short walk from Gare de Reims and the centre of the city with plenty of shops, museums and cafes. Very quiet area when the school opposite is closed for the summer (can't comment on when the school is open). The owners were very easy to communicate with and charged us a small fee to allow us to check in at 9:30am which was a blessing as our train from Paris was very early and we were tired from lots of traveling.
Lovey big room with a large comfy bed, great shower, kettle, microwave and fridge, and shutters on all the windows. The hotel did a lovely breakfast with pastries, bacon and eggs and fruit etc.
Friendly helpful staff. It was approx 10-15min walk into Reims centre and the restaurants so a good location. Good secure parking on-site. Heated pool is available to use, and although small is a nice extra.
The hotel is located close to the train station, restaurants, shopping and city sites. The staff is friendly and helpful with things to see and do around the city. The room and bed were comfortable. The hotel was quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed out stay here. The breakfast was the best we had during out nearly 4 weeks in France. They had a wide selection of items including eggs any style.
The hotel was perfect for a short stop over whilst driving through France. The hotel seemed quite new and felt secure (parking etc). My room was very quiet.
Located just off the A4 and A26 autoroutes, the hotel is in a commercial/entertainment area, with places to eat nearby. I didn’t take breakfast, so can’t comment on it.
the hotel is easy to find and is perfectly located near the city centre, the rooms are very comfy and we had a terrace which the dog enjoyed a lot, the staff are super friendly and helped in every way possible and the check in and checkout were seamless (The desk staff at check out were very attentive and helpful
excellent location - no more than ten minutes’ walk to centre of town. semi-secure multi-storey car park immediately adjacent to hotel (€16 for 15 hours overnight). very clean. unusual but quirky and fun decor. very comfortable bed. welcoming Reception. ideal particularly for a nightstop in Reims.
Practical, functional hotel. First stop in France on way to Spain. Convenient and easy to find on outskirts of Rheims. Walked into city for dinner. Opposite huge supermarket so could buy items for lunch and petrol. Very good breakfast with some of the best scrambled egg I've ever had!!
Very nicely located modern classic hotel in the centre of Reims. Pleasant staff and good service. Breakfast was great! especially the home made lemon cake ;-) And the offer for a lend water bottle is a unique service, really appreciated! We would come back again when visiting Reims!
This is a lovely hotel that is located within walking distance of many of the attractions in Reims. The staff were so helpful, their English incredible (and being gracious with my limited French!) and always available. The room was beautiful and the breakfasts were incredible.
Sure Hotel (by Best Western) Reims provides a nice place for guests. The property has very helpful front desk staff. The rooms are comfortable with great climate control. The property is near a massive shopping mall.
The location was excellent, right in the middle of Reims where we could find all the shops and restaurants. The staff was really nice at the check-in and check-out. I recommend that hotel for a short or long stay.
Convenient location if you don't want to be right in the centre - 10 minute walk from Gard due Reims, 25 minutes to the cathedral. On a quiet side street.
I like the location and staff. It’s very good location. It’s easy to travel from hotel to the center or city around Reims. Staffs are nice and friendly.
